Our client, a Further Education College specialising in land-based training, is looking to recruit a
Term time driver.
About the College
Capel Manor College based in Greater London, is a Centre of Vocational Excellence for Horticulture, Landscaping and Garden Design, Floristry, Business Enterprise, Animal Care and Saddlery.
Description of duties
Reporting to the Facilities Coordinator, main duties and responsibilities:
* Transport College students to and from various collection points (subject to route) including Tottenham Hale, Barnet and other sites, as required.
* To make regular deliveries to all college centres as required.
* To transport College Students on day trips to varying locations as required.
* To be available to cover holiday/sickness of other college drivers
* Assisting with keeping vehicles clean and tidy along with other college drivers.
* Regularly check all vehicles' water, oil and other fluid levels prior to use and keep vehicles' fuel levels topped up as necessary.
* Keep daily log sheet and record any defects as necessary in order for them to be dealt within a reasonable timescale.
* Monitor internal e-mails, to ensure you or team members are aware of upcoming delivery or transport requirements.
* Assist in taking or retrieving vehicles from the service garage, as necessary.
* Any other duties of comparable nature as required by the Facilities Co-ordinator.
Experience/special knowledge/job requirements
Successful candidates will need the following qualifications, experience and personal skills:
* PSV or D1 on your current driving licence, entitling you to drive up to 16 seat minibuses (free of current endorsements and serious convictions).
* Experience of driving minibuses, or similar size vehicles.
* Good organisational skills
* Basic level of computer literacy
* Personal communication skills of a high order
* Ability to work on own initiative
* An understanding of and commitment to Diversity & Equality as it applies to a supportive service and in the workplace.
* An understanding of safeguarding and a commitment to creating a safe learning environment
* Commitment to inclusive and comprehensive educational provision.
It is desirable for candidates to possess:
* Some experience of vehicle maintenance
Additional requirements:
* Willingness, ability and flexibility to work outside of normal office hours on occasion, in response to changing organisational requirements.
Start Date: September 2010
Hours: Term time (34 weeks a year), 20 hours per week.
Closing date: 11/06/10
