Our Client and the Role:

Founded in 1957, our client has over 50 years of experience developing and operating customized supply chain and associated service solutions in demanding environments.

Supported by a world-wide network of resources including state - of - the - art warehousing facilities, bulk fuel installations and real time freight tracking capabilities, our client provides workable resolutions to complex client requirements in the areas of food logistics, catering, retail, aviation, transport and warehousing, camp services and fuel management.

They operate multi-temperature distribution centres and military camps throughout Afghanistan and are currently seeking a Site Superintendent for a military camp in Afghanistan.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the safety, security, life support requirements, risk management and all other related activities on site.
Specifically you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the site.
You will review, analyze and prepare reports, records and directives and will confer with Managers / Supervisors to obtain data required for planning activities.
You will negotiate with internal / external suppliers for the provision of all site services and will liaise with senior management from our clients other business units who reside and operate on the site to effectively manage service provision and problem resolution.
You will assign or delegate responsibility for work assignments or functional activities and disseminate policies and objectives to staff.
You will organize resources to ensure effective delivery of goods and services and will provide work direction, resolve problems, prepare schedules and set deadlines to ensure timely delivery of services.
You will co-ordinate activities of departments with related activities of other departments to ensure efficiency and economy.
You will oversee arrival, retrofit and upgrade of equipment/material leaving and destined for other theatre use and you will oversee sub-contract agreements with local companies providing labour, equipment and supplies.
You will plan and conduct required logistical operations for staff and will conduct and participate in staff training as required.
You will prepare written reports and documentation as required in the conduct of operational responsibilities and will ensure all of our clients rules and regulations are adhered to.
You will interface with management as required and recommend policy changes as needed and will resolve and/or escalate issues in a timely fashion.
You will understand how to communicate difficult/sensitive information tactfully to respective parties.
Finally you will motivate your team to work together in the most efficient manner and will mitigate team conflict and communication problems.


Knowledge and Skills:

You will be an accomplished Camp Manager and / or Logistics Operations Manager with extensive experience of working in remote sites, post conflict areas or in other arduous environments. Previous camp / site management experience is required.

A military background would be particularly useful as would knowledge of building and engineering maintenance and life support services. You will be skilled in formulating policy and procedures, and "driving down" those policies and procedures through all levels of management to meet the demands of the business

You will have the ability to plan, organize, implement, evaluate and modify operational and logistical programs, informational support systems and processes.

You will have a dynamic personality, be assertive supported by high personal energy levels and enthusiasm.

You should possess excellent communication skills in English and ideally one other language and be able to adapt to rapid changes in a positive manner, work to tight deadlines and pay attention to the detail.

Superb communication skills and instant credibility are essential as you will be inter-facing with a number of people from different backgrounds, nationalities and religions.

You will be resourceful with a flexible outlook, have the ability to multi-task in order to handle competing priorities and be able to fit in to an international dynamic and multi-cultural environment.

Finally you should possess a Drivers Licence and be PC / IT literate particularly in spreadsheets and PowerPoint.

This is an outstanding challenge for an accomplished camp services looking for something different.

The basic salary is paid in US Dollars and is tax free for an Ex-Patriate employee. In addition there is an annual bonus payable after 12 month's service which is also paid in US Dollars and tax free for an Ex-Patriate employee. Accommodation, laundry, local transport, medical / health insurance, permanent disability and death benefit, bereavement leave and meals are all provided free. In addition you will have the use of a phone to call family and friends and also use of the internet for e-mails etc.

Ex-Patriate employees will receive 63 days annual leave per year and the working rota is approximately 14 weeks on, 3.5 weeks off.

In addition Ex-Patriate employees will receive 3 paid return economy flights per year. Mobilization and De-Mobilization flights are also paid for by our client.
