Offering a range of leading titles, our client is the expert in business to business publishing for the fast-growing £29bn news and convenience sectors. As a small company with big opportunities, they enjoy what they do, invest in innovation and develop their people. An opportunity has now arisen for a Features Writer / Journalist to join their team.

In this role you will be responsible for producing informative, newsworthy and easy-to-use articles for our client’s weekly B2B title Retail Newsagent, which will encourage and inspire independent retailers to improve their businesses.

Specifically, as the Features Writer / Journalist you will be tasked with sourcing and writing great features, maintaining a wide range of contacts, and contributing to the overall development of the magazine. Working with the Features Editor, you should have an up-to-date knowledge of key trade issues and ensure that features and supplements meet our client’s editorial values.

Your duties will include:

- writing features, including issue-led, company and FMCG market news as part of the editorial team

- generating ideas for articles, recommending to the Features Editor which copy should be published

- networking and building relationships with key industry decision makers

- when required, commissioning content from colleagues, freelance journalists and specialist contributors

To be considered for this position, you must have experience as a Features Writer on a B2B magazine. You will also need to demonstrate the ability to write creative, accurate and innovative copy, and good commercial awareness.

Additionally, as the Features Writer / Journalist you should also be able to think creatively about the layout of content and how to present it in an informative, innovative manner. The ability to interview at director level is also key.

Excellent knowledge of, and contacts within, the newspaper and magazine and FMCG industries would prove beneficial to your application.
