THE COMPANY AND SITUATION:
A leading international provider of critical support services for public authorities and corporate organisations requires a CIMA or ACCA-qualified Management Accountant to cover the contracts at two client sites in East London. They require a Management Accountant of the calibre who can not only produce accounts, but also make recommendations to management to drive the business forward.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
The essential experience and qualifications required for this role are as follows:
• Qualified CIMA or ACCA accountant, or at least CIMA/ACCA finalist
• At least 3 years commercial experience in Management Accounting, the production of management accounts, at least 2 years of which must have been in industry. Those coming straight from practice with no industry experience are regrettably not suitable.
• Ability to work alone: You would be a standalone accountant covering two client sites, remote from the firm’s head office.
• Commercial knowledge: As well as producing accounts this about understanding accounts and working with the management team in order to be able to improve results and guide them as necessary.
• Experience in at least one sector of commerce and industry: For example, those whose experience lies solely in the Financial Services sector are regrettably not suitable.
Please note the above experience is essential. You require all of the above to be eligible for this role.
Desirable, but not essential, are either of the following:
• Experience of accounting within more than one industry sector
• Experience of accounting for a Facilities Management company
THE ROLE:
The role is multi-faceted with a wide variety of accountabilities, however your main purpose here is to produce and develop systems for cost and budgetary analysis, produce reports and commentaries for use by management and as an important member of the management team yourself, work closely with and motivate line managers to ensure continuous financial and operational improvements and make recommendations to drive the business forward.

You would be covering two client contracts in London for a company that is consistently winning more. Your development and growth would come from the development and the growth of the business and the contracts that you are working on. As for longer-term opportunities, this is one company in a very large group of companies and securing this role will give you access to the wider group and hence the vast opportunity therein.
This is a challenging role, an opportunity to learn a new market sector and gain more of a management role than a pure accounting role, as you will be working with managers and gaining wider experience as a result.
